Job Description and Duties

The Transportation and Toxics Division has three Permanent Intermittent Air Resources Technician (ART) II positions for its Sacramento office.  The positions may work up to a maximum of 1,500 hours per calendar year.

The Freight Operations Section within CARB’s Transportation and Toxics Division is looking for highly motivated, self-starting individuals to become members of its team.  We are looking for friendly, outgoing people who can work a core schedule of four days per week – 7 hours each day to help with the Air Resources Board Equipment Registration program (ARBER) and regulatory development.  The ARBER Team is primarily responsible for the implementation of the Transport Refrigeration Unit and the Drayage Truck regulations, which involves a variety of challenging tasks, including assisting stakeholders in navigating complex emissions reduction requirements.  The successful candidate will provide customer service and technical support to the section.  The position also requires frequent communication with stakeholders via phone and email.  The ARBER Team also provides technical support commensurate with Air Resources Technician capabilities for other programs that reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, nitrogen oxides, diesel PM, and other air toxics.

We are looking for self-motivated, enthusiastic individuals with a creative, agile, and analytical mind.  Additionally, the most competitive candidates will have a strong scientific, engineering, or analytical background with general or specific knowledge of regulatory development, climate change, air quality, emissions, and clean air technology; have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; have excellent written and verbal communication skills (the ability to speak and write Spanish is a plus); possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills; and be able to work effectively individually and as part of a team.  The position also requires that the candidate have the ability to assimilate large amounts of technical information and interact in a clear, concise, and professional manner with various stakeholders. 

 

Computer skills, including expertise with databases and spreadsheets are highly desired.  Spanish speaker is also highly desired.
