Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Supervising Structural Engineer, the position performs the more difficult structural engineering work, and is responsible for the review of structural drawings and specifications related to design and structure for public schools, community colleges, and essential services building projects submitted to the DSA for approval in order to determine compliance with applicable building codes and regulations prior to the construction of the project, in accordance with Division of the State Architect (DSA) procedures, the California Building Code and other governing regulatory requirements.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.
