Job Description and Duties

The Department of Business Oversight is recruiting for one permanent, full-time Auditor I position in the Division of Corporations' Mortgage Lending Office (CRMLA Regulatory Unit). The position is located in downtown Los Angeles office.  This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions in DBO within the next 180 days.

Under the close supervision of the Corporation Examiner IV (Supervisor) and/or a Corporations Examiner (Specialist), the Auditor I perform examinations of entities licensed under the California Residential Mortgage Lending Act (CRMLA) and the California Financing Law (CFL).  The Auditor I works with a Corporation Examiner/Corporation Examiner (Specialist) during their initial training and performs the less difficult examinations to ensure statutory compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

This position requires extensive traveling within and outside of California to perform examinations and occasional travel to conferences, meetings and training events. Travel is primarily done by air travel with overnight stay for at least two continuous weeks at licensee’s general location. This position may also involve periodic driving and occasional overtime.

Department Information

The Department of Business Oversight (DBO) protects consumers and oversees financial service providers and products. The DBO supervises the operations of state-licensed financial institutions, including banks, credit unions and money transmitters. Additionally, the DBO licenses and regulates a variety of financial service providers, including securities brokers and dealers, investment advisers, payday lenders and other consumer finance lenders. Special Requirements

This position requires incumbents pass a Background Investigation prior to being hired. The Background Investigation may include Criminal Background, Fingerprinting, and a review of any governmental records. In addition, other available sources of background information may be reviewed prior to appointment.
