Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the State Oil and Gas Supervisor, the CEA B will function as the Assistant Deputy Director in the Division’s Sacramento Headquarters Office.  The incumbent will direct and have charge of the Division’s statewide program activities such as work plans, goals, performance metrics, resources, and objectives.  The incumbent will oversee the Underground Injection Control (UIC), SB 4 Well Stimulation, Orphan and Idle Wells, Enforcement, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and Underground Gas Storage.

    Supplemental Application

    All interested applicants must answer the following five (5) supplemental questions to be consideration for this position. Answers are limited to a total of two pages with one inch margins and font size no smaller than 11pt.

    1. Experience working in a large organization planning, organizing, and directing program operations; developing innovative solutions to management challenges; developing policy; strategic planning; and providing fiduciary oversight.

    2. Experience collaborating with executive level staff to formulate and disseminate regulatory plans, policies, standards, and controls.

    3. Experience identifying appropriate long-range plans and goals to address resource needs including staffing concerns, succession planning, knowledge transfer, and identifying changes in science and technology.

    4. Experience directing management level and engineering staff in assigned duties such as employee performance matters, development of analytical and technological research techniques, and technical reports.

    5. Demonstrated ability to interact positively and effectively with stakeholders, including public entities, representatives from oil industry, and other members of the organization at all levels.
