Job Description and Duties

Division of Public Affairs is looking for an energetic Public Affairs and Media Specialist, to join our dynamic and highly visible team. You will research, plan, write, edit, and prepare a wide range of material for dissemination to stakeholders and the public regarding the activities and objectives of the Department through media contact and external and internal communications, including but not limited to: talking points, speeches, press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, social media posts, articles and you may be called upon to prepare and disseminate the Day Ahead and Week Ahead reports to the Directorate and Agency (CalSTA). You will assist in developing strategic communication and media plans to pitch news stories and develop/disseminate information via traditional and digital media. You will be called upon to develop and pitch stories to the media favorable to the Department, respond to media inquiries both in writing and on-camera and act as a Department spokesperson. Excellent written and oral communication is required.

Working Conditions

While at their base of operation, employee will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial lighting. However, due to periodic problems with the heating and air conditioning, the building temperature may fluctuate. The work environment is fast-paced, busy and requires considerable flexibility in managing time, priorities, and assignments.  It can be demanding and/or stressful.
