Job Description and Duties

The Department of Business Oversight is recruiting for one permanent, full-time Associate Mangement Auditor position in the Internal Audit Unit. The position is located in the Sacramento office. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions in DBO within the next 180 days.

Under supervision of the Senior Management Auditor, the Associate Management Auditor assists in developing policies and procedures for the implementation of a comprehensive internal audit program in the Department of Business Oversight (DBO) which includes complex fiscal, internal audits; performs audit, evaluation, and program review in accordance with professional audit standards; collects, analyze and interpret sufficient, competent, relevant and useful information to provide a sound basis for audit findings and recommendations to determine the adequacy of system of controls, the reliability of system data and the level of implementation related to DBO's information technology projects.

Working Conditions

Sacramento Location: The Sacramento office is currently located in a convenient midtown location within walking distance to light rail, restaurants, Capitol Park, and the Golden 1 Center. DBO anticipates moving their midtown office to the north Natomas area within the next 3 months. The north Natomas office offers FREE PARKING, is easily accessible from INTERSTATES 5 and 80, and is also close to various dining and shopping choices in the Natomas area.

This position requires some traveling to other office locations and occasional travel to conferences, meetings and training events. Travel is primarily done by driving, but also includes periodic air travel and overnight travel.

Department Information

The Department of Business Oversight (DBO) protects consumers and oversees financial service providers and products. The DBO supervises the operations of state-licensed financial institutions, including banks, credit unions and money transmitters. Additionally, the DBO licenses and regulates a variety of financial service providers, including securities brokers and dealers, investment advisers, payday lenders and other consumer finance lenders. Special Requirements

  • Knowledge of internal controls and risk assessment concepts.
  • Ability to evaluate financial and information systems to access controls and ensure system reliability and data integrity.
  • Ability to plan and organize audits, assume full responsibility for complex audit assignments.
  • Knowledge of contracting laws, regulations and practices; knowledge of invoicing and billing systems and practices.
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely, communicate verbally, and listen effectively with a variety of individuals
  • Sufficient knowledge in the use of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to ensure that work products are completed on time and within budget.
  • Ability to design audit procedures to ensure critical analyses and evidence are obtained to meet audit objectives in accordance with auditing standards.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to be tactful and maintain good rapport with employees, peers, and supervisors/managers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
