Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II, and functional guidance of the Staff Services Manager I (Specialist) in the Human Resources Unit (HR), the incumbent acts as the sole Personnel Specialist and independently performs all aspects of personnel transactions for Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) including payroll, benefits, time reporting, disability and pay. The Sr. Personnel Specialist is required to have the ability to appropriately apply laws, regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions concerning personnel transactions.  Consistent with good customer service practices, the incumbent is expected to be courteous, provide timely responses to internal/external customers, and follow through on commitments.  The Sr. Personnel specialist is the sole person at the HR Reception desk and answers the main HR line, checks messages left on the main line, Greets and assists the general public and GO-Biz employees who come to the counter and  answers general inquiries and directs employees to appropriate HR staff for assistance. Regular and consistent attendance is critical to the successful performance of this position due to the heavy workload and time-sensitive nature of the work. The incumbent routinely works with and is exposed to sensitive and confidential issues and/or materials and is always expected to maintain confidentiality. The hours for this position are 8:00am to 5:00pm.
