Job Description and Duties

This position will provide administrative and analytical support to assist in the development and execution of public affairs strategies for the Department of Developmental Services in the areas of targeted communication, stakeholder development, relationship building, coalition building, presentations, interagency relations and support of internal communication efforts.

Effective July 1, 2020, in response to the economic crises caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Furlough Program 2020 is being implemented.

Department Information

The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.

These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

The DDS Headquarters is currently located at 1600 9th Street, in Sacramento, California.  In 2021, the DDS is scheduled to move into a modern, sustainable and innovative office building currently under construction and located at 1215 “O” Street, Sacramento, California.

Special Requirements

  1. Provide an example of how you have worked with a variety of stakeholders on a project and 3 key items that made the project successful.
  2. Describe your experience creating and maintaining database(s) and your preferred database management tools.
  3. Share the top 3 types of events you enjoy organizing and executing and a brief summary of why (1-2 sentences each).
