Job Description and Duties

The Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC or Department) is seeking a highly motivated individual who has strong analytical skills and natural resource experience to join the Department’s Field Operations Unit as the Area Representative in SNC's North Subregion. The reporting location for the position will be within or near Lassen, Modoc, or Shasta county; this will be determined based upon the candidate hired and their location.

Working under general direction, the CPDA II independently performs complex work related to Subregional project and program development, planning, and implementation. The position requires frequent travel, up to 50 percent, throughout the 25-million-acre Sierra Nevada Region.

Working Conditions

The duties of this position are performed primarily indoors. The incumbent’s workstation is equipped with standard or ergonomic office equipment, as appropriate. Prolonged sitting, use of telephone, personal computer, and copier are required. Incumbent must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines. Travel is required (including driving or riding in a vehicle) and may require incumbent to be outdoors, occasionally walking on uneven terrain and working in inclement weather when required to attend site visits. Occasional lifting, carrying, and/or moving up to 25 pounds may be required.

Currently, SNC is under state order that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 100% teleworking is required. A return to the office may be required at any time, or a split between telework and in-office work may be established once the stay-at-home order is lifted.

Department Information

The Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) is a state agency whose mission is to improve the environmental, economic, and social well-being of the 25-million-acre Sierra Nevada Region. The SNC leads the Sierra Nevada Watershed Improvement Program (WIP), a large-scale restoration program designed to restore the health of California’s primary watershed and create resilient Sierra Nevada communities. The Sierra Nevada Region spans 25 million acres, encompasses all or part of 22 counties, and runs from the Oregon border on the north to Kern County on the south. The Region is the origin of more than 60 percent of California’s developed water supply.

PLEASE NOTE: There is only one position being filled for Sierra Nevada Conservancy’s North Subregion. It is being advertised broadly but will be filled from Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, or a neighboring county. Work location will be dependent upon the candidate hired and their location. No relocation reimbursement will be offered.

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the minimum qualifications for BOTH CPDA II and AGPA classifications.

To obtain list eligiblity, candidates must take the online AGPA exam to be placed on the appropriate eligibility list.

SALARY

NOTE: Salaries do not reflect reductions arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. Effective July 1, 2020, state employees are subject to a 9.23% salary reduction in exchange for up to 16 hours per month of the Personal Leave Program 2020 (PLP 2020).
