Job Description and Duties

California Energy Commission seeks two Electric Generation Systems Specialist I staff members for technical assistance and funding programs supporting building decarbonization efforts in the Local Assistance and Financing Office of the Renewable Energy Division.

Under the general direction of the Electric Generation System Specialist III, Supervisor, in the Renewable Energy Division, the Electric Generation System Specialist I (EGSS I), will contribute on a staff team implementing funding and technical assistance programs that support greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction efforts through the integration of new technologies in buildings. The EGSS I will provide technical support for the development of program requirements, assess the technical accuracy of submitted funding applications, and provide ongoing assessment of technical issues to identify potential program improvements. The incumbent will work with third party technical assistance contractors to provide assistance to program participants and assist in the design of projects that integrate buildings decarbonization solutions cost-effectively

These positions require an understanding of a broad range of technical, analytic, and policy issues.

Working Conditions

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of the duties will be performed in a telework environment, but may return to an office environment in the future. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to the successful performance in this position. Occasional travel may be required.

Statement of Qualifications Requirements

When completing the SOQ, be sure to title the page “Statement of Qualifications” and include responses for each question listed below. Responses should be no longer than two pages, single-spaced with no smaller than 12 point font.  

The responses must address the following questions:

Salary Reduction Notice

Salaries do not reflect the reduction of pay. Effective July 1, 2020, in response to the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2020 (PLP 2020). For Fiscal Years 2020-21, employees will participate in the PLP 2020 and be credited (16) hours per month of PLP hours in return for reduction of pay equal to 9.23%. Part time employees shall be subject to the same conditions as stated above, on a pro-rated basis.
