Job Description and Duties

DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT I, DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION – OCEANO DUNES DISTRICT / DISTRICT OFFICE

 

The reporting location for this position is the Oceano Dunes District Office at 340 James Way, Suite 270, Pismo Beach, California, 93449. The District Superintendent works under the general direction of the Coastal Division Chief (Career Executive Assignment).

 

The District Superintendent I duties and responsibilities will include the managerial responsibility for the overall operation of the District, including planning, organizing, directing, reviewing and controlling a multi-faceted and complex off highway vehicle operations within Oceano Dunes SVRA and more traditional park operations of Pismo State Beach, including the Pismo Dunes Natural Preserve and the Pismo Lake property. The District serves over 2.6 million visitors annually within an eight-mile stretch of sandy coastline, 4,800 acres of coastal sand dunes and urban park settings, consisting of one of the most sensitive environmental coastal habitats in the United States.

 

Must be able to operate and navigate 4x4 vehicles, ATVs, ROVs or motorcycles.
