Job Description and Duties

The Assistant Chief Counsel is expected to be knowledgeable in all aspects of the California Workers’ Compensation system. Under the general direction of the Administrative Director and/or the Chief Counsel of the Division of Workers’ Compensation.

Effective July 1, 2020, State employees are subject to a 9.23% salary reduction in exchange for up to 16 hours of the Personal Leave Program 2020 (PLP 2020) per month.  For more information, please visit the Bargaining Contracts page on the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) website at www.calhr.ca.gov

Working Conditions

The incumbent will work 40 hours per week in an office setting equipped with standard office equipment. Air conditioned, in a high-rise building with elevator access, office with natural and artificial lighting.

The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.
