Job Description and Duties

Government Law Section attorneys provide legal advice and representation to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Controller, Treasurer, Secretary of State, Department of Finance, and other state agencies and departments on a wide range of legal issues, including, but not limited to, constitutional and statutory law, government operations, elections, the state budget, public finance, state mandates, criminal information, procurement, firearms, redevelopment wind-down, financial conflicts of interest and ethics. Representation includes appearances in state and federal courts throughout the State at both the trial and appellate levels. Attorneys in the Government Law Section also prepare titles and summaries for ballot measures and analyze proposed state legislation.

  • These positions are located in the Division of Civil Law, Government Law Section, and will be filled in Sacramento (JC-261229), San Francisco (JC-261237) or Los Angeles (JC-261226)
