About this Role
Researchers at the California Office of Digital Innovation (ODI) design and lead a variety of time-sensitive, complex research projects related to digital product development, government service design, state programs reinvention, and policy development. We are looking for researchers with a passion for understanding what drives user behavior and a love for diving into complex research problems. Candidates should have great listening and communication skills and a proven track record of leading research and collaborating with other teams to discover insights, identify unmet needs, and craft better solutions.

Researchers are responsible for championing the diverse voices of Californians —generating and translating insights into feature or policy recommendations, conducting rigorous evaluations, and communicating findings to stakeholders. ODI researchers work with a high degree of independence, judgement and initiative, are creative and strategic in approaching research, passionate about helping people, and highly collaborative.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at ODI
ODI’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion helps us deliver better government services to the people of California. Diversity inspires better ideas and more innovative thinking. Feeling included nurtures a shared sense of community and collective action to take on more challenging problems. Prioritizing equity ensures we focus on those who are overlooked when we seek to understand people’s needs and build solutions. We acknowledge our history and present of implicit and structural injustice, bias and discrimination. We see, hear and accept each other as each of us brings our lived experiences to our work. We give each other the support to learn and thrive so we can help all Californians thrive. We understand this work is never done so we commit to constant improvement.
