Job Description and Duties

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is recruiting for one permanent, full-time Executive Secretary II position in the Division of Corporations, Financial Services Office. Position to be located in the Los Angeles office. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions within the next 180 days.

Under the general supervision of the Deputy Commissioner (Supervisor) of the Financial Services Office’s (FSO) Escrow unit, the Executive Secretary II r
eviews, distributes, and/or acts on all incoming mail for the Deputy Commissioner. Independently researches and drafts responses to routine correspondence for the Deputy Commissioner's signature. Answers incoming telephone calls for the Deputy Commissioner and screens/directs calls to appropriate staff when necessary. Prepares Commissioner briefing binders and monitors agenda for any changes or modifications for Re-organization meetings and/or New Commissioner Orientation. Updates binder as changes occur. Assembles other pertinent material for the binder and ensures all material is given to the Deputy Commissioner in sufficient time to allow for review and preparation.

Department Information

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) (formerly Department of Business Oversight) protects consumers and oversees financial service providers and products. The DFPI supervises the operations of state-licensed financial institutions, including banks, credit unions and money transmitters. Additionally, the DFPI licenses and regulates a variety of financial service providers, including securities brokers and dealers, investment advisers, payday lenders and other consumer finance lenders.
