Job Description and Duties

Under the general supervision of the Information Technology Manager I (ITM I), the incumbent performs the advanced level of this career series and has the responsibility to make decisions and recommendations to establish organization wide policies and standards in support of the Department of Justice's (DOJ’s) California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS), Law Enforcement Agency Web-site (LEAWEB) which provides browser access to state, local and national Law Enforcement Agency data, as well as the DOJ Integrated Access Link (ReDIAL) systems. The incumbent works independently and as a team leader in the configuration, installation, testing, maintenance, and performance tuning of communications and middle tier software in Windows and Unix/Linux environments. The incumbent duties include client and vendor interaction to obtain information used to customize and develop the most complex software to achieve the desired result with optimal performance and security. The incumbent assumes responsibility and provides leadership for designing, developing, and implementing new systems and existing system modifications of complex communications and middleware software. The incumbent provides leadership for the development of communications software and also provides expertise in the development tools and languages required to develop this software.

This position is located in the California Justice Information Services Division, Application Development Bureau, Criminal Justice Information Systems Branch, CLETS Support Services Section.
