Job Description and Duties

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is recruiting for one (1) permanent, full-time, Personnel Specialist position in the Human Resources Office, Administration Division. Position to be located in the Sacramento office. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions within the next 180 days.

Under general supervision of the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I), the Personnel Specialist performs a full range of increasingly complex transactions duties in a variety of payroll and benefit services areas. Duties include, but are not limited to:  Prepares, processes, and maintains documents, reports or records involving personnel and payroll transactions. Applies State laws, departmental, and control agency rules and regulations; and bargaining unit provisions pertaining to a variety of personnel transactions. Prepares and distributes information on open enrollment, health and dental benefits, Flex Elect and long-term disability insurance and other employee benefits. Reviews attendance reports; audits leave usage; researches and resolves discrepancies.

Working Conditions

The incumbent works 40 hours per week on average in an office setting, either at DFPI Offices or in a Telework setting.

The Sacramento office is located in north Natomas. The Natomas office offers FREE PARKING, is easily accessible from INTERSTATES 5 and 80, and is also close to various dining and shopping choices in the Natomas area.

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) (formerly Department of Business Oversight) protects consumers and oversees financial service providers and products. The DFPI supervises the operations of state-licensed financial institutions, including banks, credit unions and money transmitters. Additionally, the DFPI licenses and regulates a variety of financial service providers, including securities brokers and dealers, investment advisers, payday lenders and other consumer finance lenders.
