Job Description and Duties

Help shape the circular economy and materials management policies of the future through sound research, innovative analyses and effective collaboration with stakeholders to enable CalRecycle’s Policy Office to function as CalRecycle’s policy analysis & development nexus, data gathering arm, and technical information clearinghouse. Conduct scientific and technical analyses to support data-driven, science-based decision making on CalRecycle policy issues, including waste prevention, recycling markets, organics materials and food waste, and other critical topics. Organize and conduct policy workshops to explore issues, formulate options, generate consensus, and move policies forward. This position may become full-time pending budget approval. The Office location is in the heart of downtown, close to restaurants, shops, farmers markets, and city parking. The building is easily accessible by bicycle, light rail located within a few steps of the building, and commuter buses from outlying areas, with substantial discounts available on many transit passes.
