Department Information

The Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) is conveniently located in the downtown area near many popular restaurants, shops, public transportation, and affordable parking options.  The purpose of the CTC is to ensure integrity and high quality in the preparation, conduct and professional growth of the educators who serve California's public schools.  Its work shall reflect both statutory mandates that govern the Commission and research on professional practices.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience with Payroll and Transactions Services
  • Experience supervising Transactions Services staff responsible for processing employee benefits, payroll, timekeeping, and position control
  • Commitment to performing duties in a service-oriented manner.  
  • Verbal and Written communication proficiency
  • Knowledge and experience with Performance Management techniques.
  • Experience working with Control Agencies.
  • Knowledge and experience with Classification and Pay.
  • Experience interpreting civil service laws, rules, bargaining unit contracts, departmental policy, and past practices.
  • Commitment to maintaining a work environment free from discrimination and sexual harassment.  
  • Good work habits and adherence to all policies and procedures.

Statement of Qualifications

Provide a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) no more than three pages, 12 font, single-spaced, addressing the following items. Applications without a SOQ will not be considered.

  • Describe your qualifications and leadership experience in personnel management.
  • Describe three characteristics of an effective Human Resources Manager.
  • Describe your approach to building rapport and credibility with a new and diverse team.
