Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Assistant Deputy Director (ADD) and Deputy Director (DD), The Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) performs more responsible, varied, and complex technical analytical staff services assignments for the Office of Legislative and Governmental Affairs (LGA). The incumbent is responsible for reviewing new legislation, determining its effect on CDPH, assigning to appropriate program/division within CDPH for bill analysis, tracking/coordinating fiscals for the Department, reviewing, assigning, and maintaining legislatively mandated reports, and tracking/responding to high level assignments received from the California Health and Human Services Agency and/or Governor’s Office. The incumbent will receive information, solve complex problems with Department programs and effectively communicate outcomes with ADD/ DD. The incumbent is responsible for reviewing legislative reports related to Department programs, providing feedback and recommendations to the DD and/or the ADD. The AGPA will follow established procedures for updating changes identified by management.

Department Information

The California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) Office of Legislative and Governmental Affairs (LGA) is in the heart of Sacramento in the East End Complex (1615 Capitol Avenue). LGA works closely with the Director’s office, Health and Human Services Agency, the Governor’s Office, Legislators and their staff as well as public health stakeholders. LGA is dedicated to being a resource for the development and enactment of legislation to protect and promote public health on behalf of all Californians, including vulnerable and underserved communities.
