Job Description and Duties

Under the
direction of the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor, the duties of the Custodian I include, but are not limited to, maintaining and cleaning offices, restrooms, buildings, and other assigned areas of the fairgrounds ensuring all areas are kept clean and orderly throughout the District property; operating a variety of cleaning tools and equipment; coordinating and leading the activities of seasonal unskilled manual labor, assisting permanent maintenance workers, and doing other related work.

Working Conditions

Must be available to work five (5) day work week with days off, to be determined. Selected candidate must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays and overtime to meet business needs. During the annual San Diego County Fair and select other events throughout the year, candidate must be available to work seven (7) days a week and overtime, as schedules vary depending on events which will dictate the work hours and shifts.

The 22nd District Agricultural Association manages and operates the Del Mar Fairgrounds on behalf of the State of California, and is governed by a nine-member board appointed by the governor. Fairgrounds operations are primarily funded by revenues generated by hosting events, the largest being the annual San Diego County Fair.
