Job Description and Duties

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is recruiting for one permanent, full-time Staff Services Analyst position in the Broker-Dealer Investment Adviser Division. Position to be located in the Sacramento office. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions within the next 180 days.


Under general supervision of the Financial Institutions Manager (FIM), the Staff Services Analyst (Licensing) independently performs various analytical business services functions, including but not limited to:

  • Analyze termination requests made by BDIA licensees through CRD/IARD 

  • Analyze data in various queues on the CRD/IARD system, such as Schedule A changes and regulatory disclosure queues

  • Create and maintain statistical spreadsheets on licensing workload for budgetary and managerial projects and month-end reconciliation

  • Prepares correspondence to BDIA applicants and licensees; independently prepares correspondence from the Financial Institutions Manager to other regulatory agencies, securities firms, law firms, compliance consultants, applicants, licensees, and the public

  • Analyzes financial reports, as they come in via email (IAAMEND) or mail, for compliance with minimum financial requirements

Department Information

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) (formerly Department of Business Oversight) protects consumers and oversees financial service providers and products. The DFPI supervises the operations of state-licensed financial institutions, including banks, credit unions and money transmitters. Additionally, the DFPI licenses and regulates a variety of financial service providers, including securities brokers and dealers, investment advisers, payday lenders and other consumer finance lenders.
