Job Description and Duties

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is recruiting for one permanent, full-time Business Service Assistant (Specialist) position in the Administration Division’s Business Operations Office. Position to be headquartered in the Sacramento office. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions within the next 180 days.

Under the supervision of the ASU SSMI (Supervisor), and under the indirect supervision of the SSMII, the Business Service Assistant (Specialist) (BSA) performs assignments supporting the procurement and contracting of goods and services for the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI). Department Information

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) (formerly Department of Business Oversight) protects consumers and oversees financial service providers and products. The DFPI supervises the operations of state-licensed financial institutions, including banks, credit unions and money transmitters. Additionally, the DFPI licenses and regulates a variety of financial service providers, including securities brokers and dealers, investment advisers, payday lenders and other consumer finance lenders. Business Service Assistant (Specialist) MQs are as follows:

Either I - One year of experience in the California state service performing duties comparable to those of an Office Assistant (General), Range B, or Management Services Assistant.

Or II - One year of experience in a technical capacity with responsibility for one or a combination of business service activities such as accountability and maintenance of office and industrial equipment, major building maintenance, managing of major commercial properties, or fiscal management and accountability of office and industrial property. [Experience in California state service applied toward this requirement must include one year performing the duties of a class comparable to Office Assistant (General), Range B.]
