Job Description and Duties

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is recruiting for one (1) Permanent, Full-time Office Technician (Typing) position within the Division of Consumer Financial Protection's Supervision & Registration of New Covered Persons unit. This position is to be located in the Sacramento or Los Angeles offices. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions within the next 180 days.

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of the Supervision and Registration of New Covered Persons (NCP) Program in the Division of Consumer Financial Protection (CFP), the Office Technician (OT) performs a wide variety of clerical duties, general support, document preparation and record keeping for the NCP Program, which includes providing support and assistance to the Financial Institution Managers (FIM) of the NCP Unit with all supervision, registration, and examination activities. Assisting in the maintenance of files and documents, preparation and distribution of all letters, and making necessary updates in DocQNet.  Corresponding, both in writing and orally, with companies while monitoring and tracking the status of applications for registration, following up on pending requests for preliminary examination information or company written responses to examination findings. Reviewing all correspondence prepared by other staff for accuracy, correct formatting, grammar, and Department policy. Assisting the management team of the NCP Program in scheduling and arranging of meetings. Receiving and distributing the physical mail of the NCP Program. Providing general reception services for the NCP Program.

Working Conditions

The incumbent will be required to work primarily onsite at one of the office locations shown below and be willing to exercise flexibility and agility as needed.  Informal telework arrangements may be available based on business needs upon supervisor’s approval.  Telework is subject to DFPI’s Telework Program Policy.


Sacramento Location
: The Sacramento office is located in north Natomas and offers FREE PARKING, is easily accessible from INTERSTATES 5 and 80, and is also close to various dining and shopping choices in the Natomas area. 

Los Angeles Location: The Los Angeles office is located in the heart of the downtown financial district within walking distance to restaurants, transit, multiple parking options.
