Special Requirements

 Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Please provide a Statement of Qualifcations (SOQ) for the hiring manager’s review.

Your SOQ is considered the first interview for this position.  If your qualifications are competitive, you will be invited to an on-site interview.

 When completing the SOQ, please include all relevant experience, education and training for each question. Explain your answers thoroughly and include, if appropriate, places and dates of employment, duties performed, etc., when responding to each question.

  1. Your experience in media relations or as an information officer, including writing press materials, message development, and responding to reporters in a timely manner.

  2. Your experience managing staff, both in-person and in a virtual environment. What tools do you use and have found most effective?
     
  3. Your experience in data and policy analysis, communicating what story that data and/or policy is telling, and how you’ve proactively prepared messaging based on the data and/or policy changes.  

  4. Your experience with social media, podcasts, graphic design, newsletter production, or other digital media. 

  5. Your experience in prioritizing workload and completing work under deadline.
