Job Description and Duties

SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – OFF-HIGHWAY MOTOR VEHICLE RECREATION / OCEANO DUNES DISTRICT

 

Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program.  Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application.  Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKS eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub.  If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKS program).

The Senior Park Aide reporting location is at 928 Pacific Blvd., Oceano, CA 93445.

 

This position will work under the direction of the Environmental Scientist. The Senior Park Aide is responsible for data collection and reporting; inspect fence, sign, and nest enclosure and report maintenance needed; train lower level seasonal employees; and work with the public as a State Park representative and with an interdisciplinary team. Weekend, holiday, early morning (before dawn), and evening shifts will be required and must be willing to adjust work days as needed.

Applicants should have the following qualities: Be flexible, open minded, and able to reason logically; be able to take direction and establish and maintain effective working relationships; work well with the public as a State Park representative; ability to work under adverse conditions such as in heavy wind and moving sand; willingness to do routine work in order to learn; and ability to draw sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.

 

Applicants must have a clean Class C Driver license and willingness to operate a 4-wheel drive vehicle. An interest in biological and environmental issues is preferred.
