Job Description and Duties

The California Department of Social Services Children’s Services Quality Management Branch (CSQMB) is an energetic and visible organization that is responsible for maintaining the integrity of child and family services provided by the 58 California counties by providing leadership, training, technical assistance, and oversight of county and community agencies to promote the safety, permanency and well-being of children. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is willing to take on a challenge and to provide leadership, direction, and motivation to staff towards this effort.

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) or above, the AGPA/SSA provides varied and technical support services and research activities to support the Bureau’s responsibilities for Federal and State data reporting and oversight of the child welfare system in California. The AGPA/SSA is responsible for oversight of county adherence to applicable regulations and outcome improvements.

The Children’s Services Quality Management Branch (CSQMB) mission is to protect children who are at risk, safeguard the rights of those who receive Child Welfare Services (CWS) and maintain the integrity of families by assisting and supporting counties’ compliance with uniform implementation of laws and regulations governing the provisions of Child Welfare Services.

Special Requirements

Interested applicants must submit a standard State Application Form (STD 678) and clearly indicate the basis of their eligibility in line Item 12 of the STD 678, AND submit a Statement of Qualifications. A Statement of Qualifications (not to exceed one page) is required to be submitted with the application detailing your interest in CDSS and how your education and experience would make you a good fit for the position, address the following:

  1. Describe your experience analyzing and evaluating data. Use concrete examples.
  2. Describe your experience working with stakeholders (federal, state and county agencies, advocates, legislative staff, community based organizations, etc.)
  3. Describe your experience working as a part of a team.

Only the most qualified who submit the signed State Application (STD 678) and Statement of Qualifications will be interviewed. Subject to SROA process.

This position is subject to fingerprinting clearance by the Department of Justice.

Training and Development assignments may be considered based on the availability of eligible candidates and are subject to approval by the Hiring Authority prior to appointment. Training and Development assignments are considered limited term, 12 months, and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

 

Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview, but they must provide proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.
