Job Description and Duties

The Health Program Specialist (HPS II) provides highly skilled technical assistance and training for California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) leaders and legislative liaisons within program areas to strengthen departmental capacity for equity focused legislative analysis and recommendations. The incumbent collaborates with the CDPH Office of Health Equity (OHE) and other health equity staff on bill analyses and recommendations. The HPS II also works with external stakeholders focused on health equity issues and provides internal consultation on policy positions and rationales. Offers technical assistance support to the LGA team ensuring immersion of health equity impact considerations and framing. The HPS II will be responsible for attending meetings with local health jurisdictions, state and federal officials, health equity associations, community-based organizations, and participate in advisory groups/committees as directed by LGA leadership. This position involves up to 10% travel.

 

Telework is available for this position in accordance with CDPH’s Telework Policies and Procedures.

 

This work location is very convenient! The CDPH is located a few blocks from the light rail and public transportation; within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, and farmers’ markets. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50 and Highway 80, Capital City Fwy, and CA-160.

 

This is 12 month limited-term position with possibility of being extended or becoming permanent.
