Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction and supervision of the Senior Management Auditor, Office of Audits and Court Compliance (OACC), the Staff Management Auditor supervises and directs the work of internal audit staff in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), where the scope of the audits includes significant emphasis on fiscal, management, and operational compliance within the Department.

This position may require up to 20% travel statewide. Overnight travel for up to a week at a time may be required.

Working Conditions

Our office is currently remote centered and telework is available for employees who can satisfactorily perform their essential work functions independently and remotely; however, this position is required to report to the office on an as needed basis.  The employee is responsible for any travel costs when reporting to the office.  Travel expenses shall not be reimbursed for travel to the office which may be required by management on a regular or intermittent basis based on operational need.    

Our office is located off of Highway 50 and Bradshaw Road in Sacramento, and parking is FREE!  

Physical Requirements

Requires prolonged sitting; and the ability to operate standard office equipment such as, but not limited to, a personal computer (desktop or laptop) and document systems (copier and scanner). Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds including personal overnight luggage, office issued laptop, and audit materials.

OACC’s mission is to help CDCR achieve its goals through an objective systematic, disciplined and collaborative approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, promote efficient and effective management of departmental resources, and monitor compliance with court-ordered remedial plans. OACC accomplishes this by identifying departmental risks; analyzing data; and performing audits and reviews. OACC communicates the results through accurate, objective, and timely reports; corrective action plan requests; and follow-up monitoring updates.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Supplemental Questionnaire

A Supplemental Questionnaire (SQ) is a written document prepared by the applicant and consists of a series of job-related questions the applicant must answer.  The SQ describes how they are qualified for the position based on the applicant’s experience in job-related areas.
