Job Description and Duties

 Under the Direction of the Deputy Director, the Environmental Program Manager-1 will manage the Site Mitigation and Restoration Program’s Performance Management Unit (PMU).  The PMU is a new team at DTSC charged with planning, managing, and auditing the Site Mitigation Program.  The manager will lead a team that assesses workload, develops metrics for tracking program implementation, evaluates and redevelops project management guidance and site management procedures, and develops period public-facing reports on program implementation. 

 

As an Environmental Program Manager I  you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develops, sustains, and monitors SMRP strategic, workplan and operational planning to ensure the most efficient and effective delivery of services to communities across the state
  • Survey environmental best practices to ensure SMRP metrics and goals adequately gauge targeted outcomes and maximize resource allocation and return on investment
  • Develop and lead the SMRP audit program designed to assess compliance with directives, promote knowledge transfer, and identify resource gaps
  • Manage SMRP’s performance management data visualization development and governance to ensure data and associated dashboards meet the needs of management and staff and support targeted outcomes and sustain a data driven organizational culture
  • Address data gaps in source systems, manages data libraries, and coordinates resolution with internal and external data systems experts

 

Desirable Qualifications We Look For:

  • Excellent communication, writing, and inter-personal skills.
  • Strong technical background in project management, site remediation, compliance assessment, or resource tracking and management
  • Advanced degrees in a scientific or engineering discipline
  • Experience in workforce development
  • Experience in Lean or Six Sigma project management philosophies
  • Experience with data analysis, or experience with IT project management

A hybrid telework schedule may be available for this position. The position is headquartred in Sacramento, CA.
