Job Description and Duties

Under the direct supervision of the Recovery Analytics Division Chief, the Senior Research Data Specialist (RDS II) performs highly complex analytical tasks and manages short, medium and long-term analytical projects relating to the Cal OES Recovery Operations Directorate.

 

The incumbent must be able to logically and creatively analyze and resolve governmental/administrative problems of high complexity; gather and analyze data to develop and evaluate alternatives for a variety of Recovery programmatic areas, making recommendations to management on those alternatives; communicate effectively orally and in writing, and function in an environment with demanding and changing priorities. The incumbent will work independently or as part of a team while maintaining a standard workload and responding to frequent ad hoc tasks.

 

This position is located in Mather, but some remote work is likely during COVID-19 pandemic emergency response efforts and may be possible in the post COVID-19 pandemic environment.

Working Conditions

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule which includes up to two days of remote work per week. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.
  • Conflict of Interest - This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code and is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.

The Recovery Section is responsible for managing disaster recovery and providing assistance to local governments, special districts, certain nonprofit organizations, individuals, businesses and agricultural communities impacted by disasters. The Recovery Section ensures state and federal support are provided in an efficient and timely manner throughout the recovery process.

In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
