Job Description and Duties

Under the general supervision of the Chief Engineer, the Stationary Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repairs of boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, appurtenances, and lines used in the distribution of heating and cooling. Operates, repairs and maintains refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, expansion valves and stop valves, together with all refrigerant lines and devices used to control temperatures. Must maintain current EPA certification in order to service and/or dispose of HVAC refrigerant and/or equipment in accordance with the Clean Air Act of 1990.  Maintains safety and order, and supervises the conduct of persons committed to the Department of Corrections.  Maintains security of working areas and work materials.  Maintains safety and order with Staff and Inmates.

The California State Prison – Los Angeles County (LAC) is located in Lancaster, CA (Antelope Valley) – home to our State’s Poppy Flower.  LAC is approximately forty-five (45) minutes North of Valencia, Ca, which is home to Six Flags Magic Mountain and is approximately an hour and twenty (20) minutes North from Downtown Los Angeles/ Hollywood.

Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
