Job Description and Duties

State Compensation Insurance Fund’s (“State Fund’s”) Riverside Legal office is seeking an experienced Attorney IV to join our exceptional legal team.  At State Fund, we represent the insured employers and various State Agencies of California, handling challenging workers' compensation-related issues. As an Attorney IV with us, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact by handling, defending, litigating, and resolving complex workers’ compensation cases.

Location:

The Riverside State Contracts Legal unit appears at Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board district offices in Riverside County. It is anticipated this position will serve primarily the Riverside Board. However, the incumbent/successful candidate might be assigned to appear at other Boards and locations as well.  Please apply only to this Riverside position if it’s your preferred location.  

This position offers the flexibility of remote work.  However, to facilitate local in-person hearings, the successful candidates will be expected to attend some hearings and other calendar commitments in-person.

Working Conditions

Selected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by State Fund.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period in accordance with the applicable bargaining contract.
