We're a state board committed to serving the people of California and are seeking an attorney who thrives on in-depth research and sharp legal writing to help represent the board. As part of a small, collaborative legal department, under the general direction of the Chief Counsel you will conduct thorough legal research and analysis to render legal opinions on substantive matters within the BOE’s jurisdiction, promulgate regulations, and provide strategic legal advice to executive management and Board Members on governance, disclosure, and policy matters. You will also participate in administrative hearings and coordinate all phases of litigation with the Attorney General’s office representing the agency in substantive and personnel matters.
You must have outstanding research and writing abilities and produce clear, precise, and persuasive work; strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and meticulous attention to detail; some litigation experience; and a commitment to ethical public service.
