Candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, work effectively and cooperatively within a diverse working environment, and have organizational skills. The candidate should be proactive and be able to define logistical problems and act decisively. The candidate should also have the ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills, punctuality, and good attendance is required.
Among other qualities, the most highly desirable candidates will possess:
• Knowledge of how administrative agencies in State government function.
• Knowledge of Federal, State, and local air quality regulations, vehicular emissions control systems, and air pollution principles.
• Knowledge of air quality investigative techniques, source testing and field sampling techniques, ambient air monitoring, and basic statistical and mathematical computational techniques.
• Experience in dealing with members of the public, technical staff, and public agencies.
• Analytical, critical thinking, research, completed staff work, writing, and editing skills.
• Interpersonal, customer service, and project management skills.
• A demonstrated ability in handling multiple projects with tight deadlines and respond appropriately to technical problems and/ or concerns.
• An ability to be creative, be a self-starter, have strong attention to detail, and tackle challenges effectively.
• Flexibility and willingness to learn in a fast-pace work environment and be able to accommodate last-minute changes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook applications, working knowledge of Excel and SharePoint.
