Job Description and Duties

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife North Central Region Fisheries Program is looking for a Fish and Wildlife Technician to join our team to support salmonid monitoring projects on Butte Creek, the Feather River, and Sacramento River. Data collected from these monitoring efforts contribute towards a large-scale multi-agency effort to develop a juvenile production estimate for spring-run Chinook salmon in the Sacramento River Watershed. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in the conservation and management of spring-run Chinook salmon, a State and federally threatened species, in the Central Valley of California.

Under the supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist Supervisor, the incumbent will support salmonid monitoring operations on the Sacramento River and tributaries. The incumbent will be responsible for installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of sampling equipment and gear including rotary screw traps, fyke nets, and fish passage monitoring systems; maintenance and repair of vehicles, vessels, and trailers; and assisting in the collect of environmental and biological data as appropriate/needed. May work under the lead of Environmental Scientists. Additional job information can be found in the Duty Statement.

This position is located in the North Central Region Chico Field Office with a team of passionate, hardworking, and dedicated staff. We seek individuals who share enthusiasm for fisheries conservation and management.
