Strong communication skills, ability to interact with staff at various levels and divisions, work well under pressure, independently, and as part of a team, and to meet short deadlines. Ability to proficiently type, edit, compose emails, store, retrieve, print, process, and electronically send correspondence using various department supported software such as Word, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, ProLaw, Relativity, Excel, and other desktop technology tools and communication devices.
The successful candidate will need to maintain a professional and organized work area in compliance with state and departmental rules and regulations and office policies and practices. The successful candidate will be required to maintain confidentiality regarding the nature of the documents being handled, and utilize the highest degree of independent decision-making, sound judgment, diplomacy, tact and professional communication skills. The successful candidate will also answer incoming phone calls, provide information on State government agency services and programs, direct callers to appropriate staff, take detailed and accurate messages, and take other appropriate action as necessary.
The position involves independence of action, initiative, ability to prioritize work, knowledge of department policies and a thorough knowledge of complex office/administrative practices, along with the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, follow oral and written direction, and exercise good judgment. The successful candidate must effectively and efficiently carry out assigned tasks independently or with minimal supervision, work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong communication skills, excellent organizational skills, the ability to work in a team environment, excellent work habits, dependability and flexibility are critical. The successful candidate must demonstrate telephone ethics, tact, diplomacy, discretion with confidential and sensitive situations, and maintain good attendance.
