The Employment Development Department (EDD) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Information Technology Specialist I to join the Network Engineering group within the Information Technology Branch. Under general supervision, the selected candidate will support the EDD's enterprise IT Network engineering and operations, including hardware and software components and the confidential data managed by the organization. This incumbent is to play role with Network Engineering Group of Infrastructure Services Division (ISD), where he/she will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and operations of statewide IT network systems.
As part of the Information Technology Branch, the incumbent will help shape its transformation into a customer-focused service organization by adhering to the Branch's cultural principles. They will also play a key role in fostering positive communication and building relationships with vendors, colleagues, management, and clients.
This position may offer eligibility for a hybrid work schedule, with telework flexibility determined by the Department's needs. The employee is expected to report to the office on assigned in-office days, with travel costs to the headquarters at 1416 9th Street, Sacramento, California, the responsibility of the employee.

Employees are required to report to their headquarters office on their assigned in-office days. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.
1. Required Skills
- Understanding of IP networking, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), routing, switching and ability to configure and troubleshoot network devices such as routers, switches, Wireless controllers and firewalls.
- Skills in network security including firewalls, Virtualization Security and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Python and automation tools.
- Ability to monitor, detect network bottlenecks and improve efficiency.
- Cloud computing knowledge such as AWS, AZURE or Google cloud, concepts like virtualization and hybrid cloud computing.
- Firm understanding of Layer 1 technologies such as Single, Multimode fiber and Layer 1 troubleshooting tools.
