In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
• Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles, auditing standards, internal controls, and fiscal monitoring practices relevant to nonprofit and foster care organizations.
• Experience conducting complex fiscal audits and/or performance audits, including on site reviews, desk audits, and evaluation of outcomes and performance measures.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply State and Federal laws, regulations, and funding requirements, particularly those related to Title IV E and child welfare programs.
• Experience supervising, training, and developing audit staff, including assigning work, reviewing completed audits, providing feedback, and ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple audits simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify risks, evaluate fiscal integrity, and develop clear, well supported findings and recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare audit reports, present findings, and participate in entrance and exit conferences with professionalism.
• Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including providers, program managers, and oversight entities, to promote accountability and program integrity.
• Proficiency with audit support software, particularly TeamMate, or the demonstrated ability to quickly learn and utilize audit management systems.
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed for on site reviews and provider audits.
• Strong ethical judgment, professionalism, and commitment to safeguarding public funds and ensuring the integrity of child welfare programs.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment while also fostering a collaborative, supportive team environment.
