The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) serves as
documentation of each applicant's ability to present information clearly and concisely
in writing. Please follow the instructions below; failure to include and
complete the SOQ as instructed may result in the SOQ not being considered and
in disqualification from the interview. Resumes and cover letters will not take
the place of the SOQ. The SOQ must be typed, no more than two pages in length,
and 12-point Arial font:
1. Describe your experience developing, managing, or improving irrigation or water management systems. Include examples of how you applied irrigation scheduling, landscape architecture knowledge, or smart controller technologies to improve system efficiency, reduce water use, or ensure compliance with standards or regulations.
2. This position requires coordination across Design, Construction, and Maintenance to ensure that irrigation systems and water use practices align with district goals and statewide policies. Provide an example of a project or initiative where you collaborated with multiple functional units. Describe your role, how you ensured that maintenance needs and water management requirements were incorporated, and the final project outcomes.
3. Senior Landscape Architects make high impact decisions affecting water conservation, regulatory compliance, infrastructure performance, and public safety. Describe a complex problem you encountered involving water use, irrigation system performance, design inconsistencies, or utility billing accuracy. Discuss the analysis you performed, decisions you made, and how your actions mitigated risk or prevented adverse consequences.
