Under the direction of the Education Administrator I of the Career Technical Education Leadership Office and working cooperatively with program units and supervisors throughout the California Department of Education, the Office Technician provides support related to areas such as programs, data, and budgets, for the programs and projects with which the Career Technical Education Leadership Office is charged. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Establish and maintain logging and tracking systems for office staff. Update and maintain files and reference material. Establish a follow-up system and work with office staff to ensure the timely meeting of deadlines. Answer, screen, and/or route telephone calls to appropriate office staff, as needed.
Make travel arrangements; prepare and process travel expense claims for office staff; prepare Excess Lodging Requests, as well as a variety of other travel documents, such as quarterly travel plans and CalATERS reports.
Oversee and track the submission of staff time sheets into the on-line time sheet system. Maintain office calendar of program conferences, webinars, workshops, and out of office staff.
Working in accordance with general instructions, or independently, prepare correspondence that requires a thorough knowledge of procedures and policies, and prepare documents such as reports, memos, correspondence, and applications for duplication and/or distribution.
Arrange and coordinate details to set up meetings and conferences; prepare material for meetings and workshops; make room reservations for meetings and conferences; prepare agendas for meetings; prepare final documents from notes and materials provided by office staff.

This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027.
