STATE PARK PEACE OFFICER SUPERVISOR LIFEGUARD II / PUBLIC SAFETY/ ANGELES DISTRICT / DOCKWEILER STATE BEACH
The reporting location for this position will be Dockweiler State Beach.
This position will work under direction of the Chief Ranger (State Park Superintendent III), the State Park Peace Officer Sup II Lifeguard, is responsible for aquatic operations at Dockweiler and Will Rogers State Beach units and will be responsible for the Aquatic Safety operations, including providing field-level management for the district's aquatic services, which includes the following programs: aquatic budget oversight, emergency medical response, law enforcement, aquatic resource protection, Rescue Watercraft & boat operations, Swift Water Rescue response, shark protocols program, Lifeguard tower operations, annual aquatic reporting, Dive program, Surfline contract, Lifeguard dispatch system (ATT First Net), seasonal lifeguard operations (200+), Lifeguard training, rescue equipment response and management, Tsunami Response Plan, Junior Lifeguard program oversight and interpretation, employee evaluations, and related administrative functions for the aquatic services program.
State housing may be required. *Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs, or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.

Work environment is an office/contact station setting, using computers, telephone and other business equipment. Typical work activities involve frequent and prolonged periods of sitting. Typical work involves extended telephone conversations and keyboard operation. Must meet many deadlines within short time frames. Requires reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties. May involve some exposure to aggressive visitors. Will work outdoors in unpredictable weather ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold. May come in contact with wild animals. This is a uniformed position, uniform standards must be met. Must be willing to work weekends, nights, and holidays as necessary.
