The California Veterinary Medical Board (VMB) is looking for candidates to apply for the Supervisor I (Enforcement Program Manager) to manage and direct all elements of the VMB’s Enforcement Program which includes complaint intake, investigation, the citation and fine, Formal Discipline, and Probation in the Enforcement Unit. Enforcement staff investigates the Enforcement Program’s most complex enforcement cases involving violations of the California Veterinary Medicine Practice Act. The responsibilities of the Supervisor I include:
- Supervise and direct day to day activities of the VMB’s enforcement program
- Plan, assign, review and evaluate the work of enforcement staff
- Serves as an expert witness on designated enforcement cases
- Enforcement related activities liaison
- Provide detailed analysis and reports on statistical enforcement data and enforcement budget projections

The incumbent is a Work Week Group E employee and is expected to work an average of 40 hours per week each year, and may be required to work specified hours based on the business needs of the office.
The incumbent works in an office setting, with artificial light and temperature control. Daily access to and use of a personal computer and telephone is essential. The incumbent must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Travel to and attendance at various meetings occurs regularly and is an essential function of this position. The incumbent is required to travel throughout an assigned geographical area by various methods of transportation.
Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview. However, they must reside in the State of California once they are hired and start working.
Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee's monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period as outlined on "Section 2113 - Personal Leave Program (PLP)" of the CalHR Manual.
