As an Assistant Bureau Director within the Filing Services Bureau (FSB), Correspondence, Analysis, Support and Education Section (CASES), the incumbent will guide a talented leadership team and dedicated staff, driving impactful initiatives such as innovative program improvements across the bureau and division, outreach to key taxpayer groups and professionals, and guiding your teams’ activities to provide critical tax administration services. This high-profile position empowers the incumbent to champion change through collaborative enterprise projects, lead the rollout of modern technology solutions, influence legislative implementation, and play a pivotal role in business process governance and organizational action committees. Under the general direction of the Director of the Filing Services Bureau, the Assistant Bureau Director will assist in the management of the Filing Services Bureau (FSB) which is comprised of the Taxpayer Services Center and Correspondence, Analysis, Support and Education sections. FSB is the first point of contact for all taxpayers and their representatives to ensure California's taxpayers file timely and pay accurately; providing excellent customer service in tax filing assistance and account resolution via telephone assistance, correspondence, and live chat regarding Personal Income Tax, Business Entity and other programs.  FSB is also responsible for providing education and outreach, audit, technical, analytical, educational, and contact center support to all bureau staff, other departmental staff, and external customers.

 

The Assistant Director of this bureau will act in an advisory capacity to the department's Executive Officer, Governance Council and Division Chiefs making recommendations on policies, strategies and procedures related to improving and expanding the filing services provided to our internal and external customers; such as, expanding self-service options, business process improvements, Contact Center Platform strategies, and expanding one-and-done services, including assisting the department's voluntary and involuntary compliance efforts; and playing a key role in the department’s ongoing efforts of modernizing its tax systems and processes.

 

Position exists in the Correspondence, Analysis, Support and Education Section (CASES) area of the Filing Services Bureau.

Working Conditions

This position requires 4 or more days in the office per week. It is designated office-centered and may be eligible for some remote work based on departmental guidelines and operational need.
