• Professional cleaning experience in a lead or supervisor capacity, including experience assigning, coordinating, monitoring, or reviewing the work of custodial staff.
• Knowledge of custodial practices, methods, materials, supplies, equipment, and techniques, including the safe and effective use of cleaning chemicals, tools, and janitorial equipment.
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices and procedures, applicable to custodial operations, including the proper handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials.
• Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, assign, and monitor custodial work to ensure facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, sanitary, and orderly condition, and service standards are met.
• Ability to lead, train, coach, and provide direction to custodial employees, including communicating work expectations, demonstrating proper work methods, providing constructive feedback, and addressing performance or work-quality concerns.
• Ability to use tact, diplomacy, sound judgment, and professionalism when communicating and working with customers, co-workers, management, vendors, and other government agency representatives.
• Demonstrated reliability and dependability, including consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience working in a team environment, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Experience safely and effectively operating a variety of janitorial and custodial equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), operating and maintenance instructions, product labels, policies, procedure manuals, schedules, and other written materials related to custodial operations.
• Ability to work within demanding time frames, manage competing priorities, and adjust work assignments as operational needs change.
• Ability to maintain a professional, respectful, and services-oriented approach when interacting with employees, customers, co-workers, management, vendors, and other government representatives.
