A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with the State Application and serves as documentation of candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. It should be typed, no more than two (2) pages in length, using Arial 12-point font, and normal margins. Include your first and last name at the top right corner of each page. Additionally, number each response so that it corresponds with the SOQ statements below. A Resume or Cover letter does not substitute for the SOQ.
In your SOQ, be sure to include your total years of experience, when applicable, in addressing the following statements:
1. Describe a time you coordinated a multifaceted project with multiple competing deadlines. Include in your response how you went about coordinating it and what the outcome was.
2. Describe your experience serving in customer service facing roles, focusing on times you had to provide service to someone who appeared to be unhappy, frustrated, or disgruntled. How did you go about addressing that situation and what were the outcomes?
3. Describe your experience with the California Public Records Act. If you do not have direct experience with the California Public Records Act, describe a time you had to quickly learn and apply new concepts to your work.
Applications received without the SOQ addressed as stated will not be considered. Failure to follow the instructions or responses that are duplicate may result in your application being disqualified.
Note: Resumes, letters, and other materials will not be evaluated or considered as a response to the SOQ.
