STATE PARK PEACE OFFICER SUPERVISOR (RANGER) – MONTEREY DISTRICT / MONTEREY SECTOR / MONTEREY SECTOR OFFICE
The reporting location for this position is Monterey Sector Office in Monterey, CA. This position will work under the general supervision of State Park Superintendent III.
The State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger) serves as a first-line law enforcement and public safety supervisor for the Monterey Sector in the Monterey District. The incumbent directly supervises assigned SPPO Rangers and works closely with other District SPPO Supervisor staff to coordinate supervision, patrol staffing, law enforcement operations, emergency response, aquatic public safety, visitor services, and calls for service throughout the Monterey Sector. The incumbent works directly with Administrative Services, Facilities Development, Natural Resources, Interpretation and Education, Cultural Resources, Service Driven, campground, maintenance, and other District programs to coordinate daily operations, public access, special events, projects, resource protection, and emergency preparedness.
This is a working supervisor position responsible for preparing and adjusting schedules and patrol plans; supervising arrests, investigations, traffic collisions, searches and rescues, medical aids, aquatic emergencies, wildland fires, evacuations, major events, and other critical incidents; coordinating traffic, parking, crowd, and access management; reviewing law enforcement and administrative reports; coordinating with allied agencies; ensuring required training and qualifications; delegating and tracking training assignments; evaluating and developing employees; addressing performance and disciplinary matters; maintaining equipment and property accountability; and supporting resource protection, interpretation, special events, hiring, budgeting, and other administrative functions.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs, or may be offered state-owned housing if available. - Work outdoors in various types of weather and in unpleasant or hazardous conditions, including around traffic, raw sewage, chemicals, wildland fire, rough terrain, and moving water.
