Job Description and Duties

This statewide recruitment offers flexibility in reporting location. The selected candidate's reporting location will be the Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety's (Energy Safety) office closest to their residence.

Under general direction of the Electrical Safety Policy Division Program Manager, the incumbent will lead, supervise, and direct the work of staff within the Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) Branch A. The Supervisor will jointly oversee, with the WMP Branch B Supervisor, the Electrical Safety Policy Division’s WMP evaluation process for nine electrical corporations. The Supervisor will also oversee the development of WMP Guidelines, the review of existing safety requirements and other wildfire mitigation programs as required. The Supervisor will assist the Program Manager in the formulation of policies and practices to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the Division.

Working Conditions

Effective July 1, 2025, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). Under PLP 2025, each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits each month. The salary range(s) included in this job advertisement do not reflect the 3 percent reduction in pay.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for applicants residing in California, in accordance with Government Code Section 14200 and Energy Safety's current telework policy. A hybrid schedule typically includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office a minimum of 4 days per week; however, the specific number of in-office days and the overall telework schedule is subject to management approval and operational needs and does not alter the terms and conditions of employment, essential job functions, or compliance with departmental policies. Employees may be required to report to their designated work locations with minimal notice. When working in the office, staff may utilize shared workspaces (hoteling stations). The specific telework schedule, number of in-office days, and work locations requirements are subject to change at the sole discretion of Energy Safety based on operational needs, policy changes, or direction from State leadership. 

The incumbent may be required to travel, including overnight stays, and may occasionally be required to work unusual or irregular hours, including nights and/or weekends, to meet Energy Safety's business needs.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete a Form 700 within 30 days of appointment.

To be appointed you must satisfy one of the following requirements:

2. Transfer Eligibility – Must have current employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above).

3. Reinstatement Eligibility – Previously obtained permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above).
