Job Description and Duties

STATE PARK INTERPRETER II – SIERRA DISTRICT / LAKE TAHOE SOUTH SECTOR/ ED Z’BERG SUGAR PINE POINT STATE PARK

The reporting location for this position is Sierra District Headquarters Resources Office, Sugar Pine Point State Park in Tahoma, CA. This position will work under the direction of the State Park Interpreter III. 

The State Park Interpreter II will serve as the lead interpretive coordinator for the Lake Tahoe South Sector, including Ed Z’berg Sugar Pine Point State Park, Emerald Bay State Park, and D. L. Bliss State Park; plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate interpretive programs and projects; provide leadership for historic house museum tours at Vikingsholm and the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion; conduct and synthesize cultural and natural resource research; develop interpretive themes, media, presentations, and educational materials; coordinate seasonal staff and docent/volunteer support; assist with training and mentoring interpretive staff and volunteers; prepare interpretive reports, program statistics, and operational documentation; support special events, outreach programs, virtual programming, and interpretive media projects; assist with visitor services and partner coordination; and do other related work as assigned.

 

They may be required to work on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and at odd or irregular hours. The purchase and wearing of a State Park uniform will be required. State Park grooming standards must be met. Driving a State vehicle in accomplishing the following tasks may be required.


This position requires a valid Class C driver’s license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.

This position may work up to 1500 hours per year/in a 12 consecutive month period.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
