Under the broad administrative and policy direction of the Infrastructure & Operations  Branch (IOB) Chief, the Information Technology Manager I (ITM I) serves as manager of the Network Operation Section, IOB, within the Technology Services Division (TSD).  The ITM I manages staff participation in and oversight of systems engineering services in support of network architecture and network operations. 

The ITM I is a dynamic leader of a progressive network operations section that is enthusiastic and excited about management of DCSS networks ensuring network operations (voice and data), performance, and availability. The ITM I works with the highest levels of management, executives, and enterprise architects as one of the Department’s technical architects for IT infrastructure and operations to assure program visions are achieved.  The ITM I is a technical advisor on standards, methods, and procedures for network operations and architecture ensuring the security of services.   The ITM I provides leadership, participation, and general oversight of the ongoing analysis for data and voice networking services needs supporting DCSS and its customers in conformance with Federal and State policies, standards, and guidelines.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Knowledge of leadership principles and practices.

  • Knowledge of IT policies and procedures to conform to industry and State security and IT best guidelines.

  • Knowledge of IT principles and practices for network architecture and operations used in the delivery of IT systems in a DevOps environment for data and voice services.

  • Knowledge of network architectures and security practices in using cloud services providers (e.g., AWS or Azure).

  • Ability to coordinate with staff on project and operational issues and status for successful delivery.

  • Ability to develop, evaluate, and present proposals and technical information for IT solutions and services metrics that demonstrate customer value, experience, and/or satisfaction for effective recommendations and decisions.

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with executives, peers, contractors, and staff.

  • Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) to exchange and/or provide information to management, staff, customers, and others.
